In our readings from Isaiah, Psalm 72, and St. Paul's Letter to the Romans, we hear promises of harmony, justice, and peace. The Gospel, however, rings with St. John the Baptist's warning: “Behold, I am sending my messenger ahead of you; he will prepare your way. A voice of one crying out in the desert: “Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight his paths.” - Matthew 3:3
